Shattered by losing the girl of his dreams, he forsakes his own personal dream and drops out of the CIA six months before graduating. Living in Manhattan, he is a lost soul without his Sarah, and he aimlessly drifts. Sarah, meanwhile, has gone abroad to finish college. When she returns, he finds out. Their paths cross a few times, as she, too, lives in Manhattan. Meanwhile, years go by. She gets engaged to a man of whom her parents approve. He, meanwhile, is still scraping along, his dream of being a chef on hold. He dates a series of nutjobs, while he moons over his lost love. Neither he nor Sarah are happy. There are, however, some very funny scenes involving these nut jobs that he dated.
Of course, their paths again cross, and que sera, sera! This being a romantic comedy, there has to be a happy ending. To discover how it comes about, however, requires you to watch this movie. It is a little quirky film, but occassionally quite funny. Kipp Marcus is not particularly attractive, looking cadaverously thin and drawn, while Alice Dylan, though pleasant looking, is no beauty queen. They seem to be almost an odd couple. Still, Kipp Marcus has a sort of ingratiating charm that works, a sort of poor man's Ben Affleck. Alice Dylan gives a credible performance as Sarah. Look for Bernadette Peters in the role of Elise Ellis, mother to James. October 13, 2002
