A Year in Provence (1993)

A Year in Provence, the made-for-TV version of the bestselling book by Peter Mayle, captures a year in the lives of Brits Mayle (John Thaw) and his wife Annie (Lindsay Duncan) in southern France. The Mayles both revel in and endure what for most would be a fantasy experience: leaving dull jobs, acquiring an old farmhouse in Provence, and (for Peter) attempting to write a novel in the midst of bucolic countryside, gourmet food and drink, and interesting people. scenery brings back memories

A group of friends rented a home in Provence last year and this video brought back so many memories of our visit. The movie was clever and it helped me practice my limited French.

A Year in Provence DVD

I live in Australia and have been trying for years to obtain first the video and now the DVD. I have read the book many times and all of Peter Mayle's books.
I was thrilled to get this and my husband and I said we will watch one episode a week. We finished it over the weekend!
It is wonderful. A feel good story.
We are now starting it again and will do the one episode a week!! April 27, 2008

great vacation for your brain

I had seen parts of "A Year inProvence" when it was on A&E origianlly (many years ago). And I had really enjoyed what I had seen, but I never thought I would be able to see the whole series.

I purchased the DVD's and got to see the entire show. I loved it. If you just enjoy pure entertainment with a touch of French culture, language, food, etc. thrown in, I think anyone would really enjoy it too.
