Although I admit to being a huge Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn fan and so am a little biased, this has to be my favourite of their films. Grant, ever stylish and charming puts on a virtuoso performance in one of his later films (we was in his 60s here), as the handsome stranger helping Audrey after she finds her husband murdered. But is he one of the good guys or is he a spy?

Some entertaining supporting performances from Walter Matthau and James Coburn too.... great fun for a light night in, from a time where even the villains had a lighter side. July 12, 2008

I saw this movie for the first time this weekend, and instantly fell in love with it. I have always loved Audrey Hepburn, and this time is no disappointment. She looks amazing! Also, Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn have wonderful chemistry. I am not one for mystery-type movies, but this is definitely an exception. I want to buy it, but I think I will take the advice and buy it elsewhere. Great movie, though! April 22, 2008

rating: 5 QuoteWonderful film--and Wonderful Commentary from Criterion Quote
As almost all of the reviews here indicate, this is a wonderful movie--with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in top form (along with the supporting cast, many of whom made this before becoming top stars themselves).

The Criterion edition is wonderful and at first, I was disappointed in the lack of extra features (especially for a Criterion edition). However, the commentary more than makes up for it. Stanley Donan and Peter Stone give so much interesting back story to this production as to really show what making such a film is like. Their banter is amusing but you just get to hear how true professions at the top of their game go about making such a wonderful entertainment as this.

Enjoy!! April 11, 2008

Classic Mystery Thriller with a beautiful backdrop of Paris. Cary and Hepburn along with other big stars (Matthau, Colburn, Kennedy) make for an exciting and twisted script. For those of you new to this movie, when a murder happens and his widow is left being chased by four suspects and a stranger who knows how to play "Charade".
For those who know this movie it is an excellent DVD version along with an extra '53 version and bonus material. April 5, 2008
