A sturdy western with lots of action

There's rarely a dull moment in this German-produced, filmed-in-Yugoslavia western based on a Karl May book. Pierre Brice and Lex Barker once again appear as "Winnetou" and "Shatterhand" but leading lady Karin Dor provides most of the acting spark. Perhaps the film's chief point of interest is the flogging Clarke Reynolds undergoes at the hands of bad-guy Battaglia. According to the book "Lash! The Hundred Great Scenes of Men Being Whipped in the Movies," this ranks as the screen's #1 flogging. July 10, 2006
