Sky High (2005)

The idea of a high school for superheroes will appeal to teens and preteens, who struggle powerlessly with petty authoritarians, bullying peers, and their own rampant hormones, and Sky High spotlights young Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano, Lords of Dogtown), the son of top-of-the-heap superheroic couple the Commander (Kurt Russell, Tango & Cash) and Josie Jetstream (Kelly Preston, View from the Top). Unfortunately, though he's about to be dropped into the midst of kids who can stretch, turn to living stone, or shoot fire, Will has yet to develop any powers at all--and may never develop them. His development anxieties (and some entertaining metaphors for high school social hierarchies) contrast with a bubbling plot by an old foe of the Commander's to destroy Sky High and all of superhero-dom. Sky High has a great supporting cast (including Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness; Dave Foley, NewsRadio; Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman; and Cloris Leachman, Young Frankenstein) and a handful of funny, offhand bits, but the bulk of the movie is bland and obvious. Younger kids may not mind the clumsy action scenes, generic dialogue, and tacky production design, but even comic-book-loving teenagers will label Sky High bargain-basement. --Bret Fetzer Amazon.com

Sky High goes through the roof

This movie is great for the whole family. Its better than Spiderman, Superman, and Batman. Albeit the main characters and super heroes are not as cute as the people that have played the lead in Batman (according to the general public, not me). It has action, comedy, romance, what more can you ask for? November 16, 2008

Great time, even for non-family couples!

I am a fan of profound films, you know "meaty" ones, with jarring plots, and humanistic stories. However, I have to say I had a blast watching this, at 32 years old. The PQ was great, and the story was engaging, as it reminded me of all of the challenges of HS. I love Superman and generally enjoy the "superhero" genre. This was a fun spin, with cool characters, and of course, many interlaced Disney messages, and I'd highly recommend this, for a fun night of Blu-ray fun! September 29, 2008

Sky High

This is my 2 1/2 year old boy's favorite movie (and I don't find it really annoying either). It's pretty fun and Disney so there's nothing too scary or adult for him. August 5, 2008

Great Fun for the Whole Family

Sky High is a movie about a high school for teens with super-powers. It has the usual teenage situations going on but with super hero and sidekick powers added. It's a great combination. Sky High is a great film that the whole family can sit down together and watch and everyone will really enjoy. It has good actors, good plot, action and lots of fun.

Our whole family really enjoyed the movie. I recommend watching for a light hearted family night of fun. July 13, 2008
