AVP - Alien Vs. Predator (2004)

I liked this movie.
There are a few bad things about it though, first, the Predators are way to fat compared to the original, and the aliens have smaller heads. They made the Grid Alien too strong, it was able to kill 2 Predators, with out being hurt, except for losing it's tail. Also, since the Queen escaped out of the ice at the end, there would also probably be a few aliens with it. Scar Predator got stabbed by the Queen and the Predalien still survived!
Now for the good parts.
The Predators have new weapons, and the Shuriken Disc looks a lot better. They also have different masks, which is good. The Alien Queen looks better too. The movie has so many battle scenes, but my favorite is the Celtic vs. Grid fight. This movie keeps you watching it over and over again. The ending is great.
I like this movie, and anyone that knows about the two series should get it. July 12, 2008

Cool Movie That Gives A More Human Element To The Predators

Before this film even existed I was never familiar that there was a whole universe of Alien vs Predator type stuff like comics, games etc so I was quite shocked that they made this movie and felt it would simply be another vs movie much like Freddy vs Jason. In a way it became what I expected it to be but with a little more on top, it was disappointing yet enjoyable at the same time. The major tag line for the movie was "Whoever wins, We lose" which when you watch this film you come to learn that actually that's not strictly true. The story is about a team of Archeologists who discover that there may be an ancient Aztec temple 2,000 feet under the Antarctic ice and they want to go on an expedition to explore this temple, however they find themselves in the middle of an even greater problem, a war between Alien species.

This wasn't a reflection of what you would expect from a typical Alien or Predator movie as there is very little blood and guts and little genuine horror. We are given, however, a more human look at the Predators as we come to learn that them being on our planet is simply a hunt and they don't injure or maim those who are un-armed. To those familiar with the comics or graphic novels of the AVP series this may be a regular thing to see but to those who are just familiar with both sets of movies, this is a surprising dimension to be given to the Predators.

Paul W.S. Anderson received a lot of criticism for this movie and to some it may be rightly so but to me I feel it's unfounded as I saw this to be a very good and entertaining movie that most everyone should own. June 18, 2008

this movie is awesome. it has non stop action and suspense. it's a really good movie. two titans against each other you couldn't ask for a better combonation. this movie rocks. June 17, 2008

AVP AND THE TEMPLE DOOM! 3 1/2 STARS!

I know that purist are not fond of what's been going on with their beloved Alien and Predator franchises, but truth be told this film isn't bad. All things considered they have come up with a story that works to bring the two classic creatures together to do battle in this fun action flick!

I love movies and appreciate great works of art in film. I also am not above loving a good popcorn flick! Movies are here for our enjoyment, but unfortunately, some people are so pompous they forget what it's all about! ....... entertainment! I'm not knocking world class films like Gone With The Wind, Citizen Kane, The Godfather etc..etc., but all films don't have to be so profound......do they?

This gimmick is no different than what was done in the 40's when classic films like 'Frankenstein' and 'The Bride Of Frankenstein' had sequels like 'Frankenstein meets the Wolfman'! Although it's not a classic, it's still a memorable and fun movie.

These films don't destroy what was great about the classic, they actually pay great respect...a homage if you will to the original. If you don't like these films....fine, but for me I have to admit I enjoy them ...if done right. The unrated version is the best version I've seen and this film edges out the sequel, mostly because you can see all the action! Grab some popcorn and a beer and watch this Sci-Fi Battle Royal!

Check your brain at the door.

I saw this the day it came out. I'm in my mid 30's so I wasn't expecting much from this movie considering its source was a video game.
I came away feeling satisfied.
It does noting but further trash the reputations of both franchises.
However, if your looking for a fun popcorn movie. Its really not all that bad. I was unimpressed with the outside of the pyramid. It looks like the aliens would have used it as a second garage. However, the inside blew my mind. What an amazing set design. The acting was ok. The story was silly but passable.
The local paper did a review a few days later and wondered why they didn't screen it for critics, saying that it wasn't as bad as the studio thought.
I agree, its not as good as Predator 1 or 2.
Or Alien 1 or 2.
But comon, take it for what it is.
A fun, check your brain at the door popcorn movie.
Dont take it so seriously, you might find yourself enjoying it. June 13, 2008
