Well, Dark harbor was a.... lets say.... wait. I rented it the first time I saw it and while in the car looking down at the case I guessed the ending. LOL! And well, at the time I didn't know I had. So that night as my girlfreind and I snuggled our pillows and watched it, we found our selves half watchin though the moive up until the End. And that was it the selling point of the movie. I love Alan Rickman and the ended just tyed the knot on the almost stakerest way I like him.

Now if you have a short attention span...this moive may not be for you. And yet if you are a Rickman lover, you will beable to sit though this moive, until the end.

**Spoiler**
Now this is a heed of warning there is slash in this moive I shall not tell between who. But if you desest those things this movie is MOST NOT FOR YOU! November 19, 2008

First, what a fantastic story line/plot. Everyone needs to watch it more than once. Once you have seen the surprise ending, you need to watch again and see all the clues. Alan Rickman at his stunningly best. July 6, 2008

I would like to see how this movie compares with the book which I have not yet read (it's on my "to read" list). It's not a horrible movie despite some slow scenes, but the ending (final scene) seemed to come out of nowhere. Usually with a surprise ending such as this I like to go back and watch for clues that I missed that would have alerted me to a twist. I'm able to see the clues in terms of the wife but after watching it several times now I'm just not picking up any hints that would explain the final scene. Hence, the surprise ending seems almost out of place, as though the writer decided last minute to throw a twist in to make it more exciting, and it did need some excitement. Again, I've made it a point to read the book to see if it's any better. Regardless, if you're going to make a movie based on a book the movie should be able to stand alone and I don't think this one does. A little disappointing.

Redeeming qualities lie strictly in the acting. Norman Reedus does a great job playing a believable and somewhat creepy drifter and Alan Rickman easily portrays the rather mundane and grumpy husband with a touch of nastiness that, unfortunately, seems stereotypical of this actor (honestly, I wish he were more particular about the scripts he chooses!). Polly Walker gives an adequate performance...nothing that would make me stand up and applaud.

A little disappointing but may feel differently if you've read the book. November 13, 2007

I just started collecting Alan Rickman movies, and I am happy to add this to my collection. However, though he does a good job with what he had to work with, I was slighlty disappointed because I found the story to be very obvious and predictable. I also really enjoyed Polly Walker's performance, and I loved the island setting. The story is an interesting one and would have potentially been a great thriller if the clues had not been so obvious. I think the writers and filmmakers should have had a little more respect for the intelligence of the audience. The ending was not a surprise to me because I had it all figured out nearly from the beginning. If they had been more subtle, I think this could have become a classic movie. It is a nice length and has good acting, settings, and film editing, but it is just so predictable. November 12, 2007

I love Alan Rickman so I bought this because of him. Other than Alan being in it, the film is a waste of time. I didn't like the drifter, the wife was only semi-nice, Alan was moping and the stop frame mushroom thing was stupid. All the important information in the film was delivered in blocks of dialogue instead of being slipped in throughout the movie. Between important dialogue the movie was dull and boring. Buy this if you love Alan Rickman and need it for your collection but don't buy it to see a good mystery. October 28, 2007
