I LOVE STEVE ZAHN BUT . . .

This is a total WASTE OF TIME!! Unless you are an immature adolescent with nothing better to do, this one gets two thumbs down. No plot, acting is bad and even liking Steve Zahn doesn't help! March 9, 2008

Worthless, boring, and totally generic... and now for its bad points

Wow! Did the people reviewing this movie see the same one I did? Skip the fact that you grew up in Syracuse or that you were stoned sitting at home channel surfing and try getting down to the movie at hand. This movie SCREAMS straight to video. I honestly didn't laugh once. Every joke, if you can call them that, falls flat. The feeling of been there, done that, hovers ominously thoughout the whole film. It's neither romantic, comedic, nor is it a coming of age. All three themes are attempted, none are successful.
One thing nice I can say about it is that my living room is now clean. My buddy Travis insisted that I check it out so to humor him I watched it. I felt like I was thowing away an hour and a half of my life so to salvage this I cleaned everything I could while watching.
Sorry for those of you who grew up in a crappy small town and this reminds you of the pointless, dreary existance you call your teenage years. Rent "Up in Smoke," pull a fat tube, and really laugh at two people getting stoned. At least actual smoke comes out of their mouth when they take a hit. November 2, 2005

this movie realy hits home

owasco entertainment. you've got to love that. especially if you're an ex-owasco owl. i've never seen a movie that better captures the melancholy of growing up in a small town in cny better than this. this is the best transition from bitter-sweet teen movies into early twenties angst movies you could imagine!! Pretty good!

I was channel surfing a few nights ago, and the reason that I stopped on this movie was because I recognized the Carousel Center Mall in Syracuse. At first I couldn't believe anybody would ever do a movie in Syracuse, so I continued watching it. After a few minutes, however, I began to like the movie because of the plot. It's a good comedy, and yet has a good story line. January 17, 2003

A Cool, Refreshing, Indie Flick

Don't judge a movie by its' cover or its' title. This is very appropriate for this movie. The girl on the front cover is not in the movie and the story isn't a stoner flick, although there is some drug and alcohol usage in the movie (the conversations and views after some consumption of whacky-tobacky and some beer is really funny in this movie, though). This movie was also titled "Freak Talks About Sex" and rightfully so.

For anyone who has recently graduated college (maybe even high school) and is a little lost in direction they want to take in life, can relate to this movie. This is a very laid back movie with funny stories, quotes, interactions with past students, and views about life after college.

Only down point about the movie is that there is some missing information in the plot and its' direction and the story ends sort-of ambiguously (but is this the way the director wanted to leave you feeling; like the main character?). But after all, this is an indie flick. Overall, a cool movie to watch anytime with anyone. The soundtrack for the movie is pretty cool too. Check it out, very worthwhile. November 27, 2002
