I picked this up for the S.D. Katz short, "Protest" and for that alone it was well worth it. July 7, 2008

Film-Fest is a great idea and I wish I'd thought of it. So what is "Film-Fest"?.."Film-Fest" is an interactive movie magazine that's entertaining as well as informative. And by the looks of how rare and what it costs to get back "Issues", they seem to be a collector's item as well.Just like any magazine it is filled with interviews, features, and short stories, these being in the way of "shorts" by up and coming young filmakers. And just like any other magazine, there are also advertisements(which you can fast foward through if you like). Film Fest is geared toward an audience that enjoys and is interested in the world of Independent filmaking.

I throughly enjoyed this issue of "Film-Fest 4".It centers around the Sundance 2000 and Hawaii International Film Festivals. The interviews and candid chats with such stars as Brenda Blethyn, Nick Nolte, Nathan Lane,Heather Graham, and Dave Foley among others were highly entertaining. What I most enjoyed were the shorts. Included is "Call Me Fishmael", a delightful animated short,"Enchanted", "Protest",a highly innovative piece about the endangered elephant, and the very charming "Jorge".These shorts may be watched with or without commentary from the directors and vary in length. You'll also find coming attractions for other films,a terrific feature on Seniors who surf, and lots of Film-Fest facts in the form of notes.

There's alot to look at. The interactive menu's are great. You can choose exactly what you want to watch, each section has their own menu's to navigate through, or you can just pop in the disc and let the DVD take you through the whole 2hr 10 minute view.

The DVD has a great picture and sounds nice as well. I had alot a fun, viewing this issue and will probably order some more, For those interested in this sort of thing, you can also order a subscription(which I'll probably do). It is the much more economical way to go.

Enjoy...oh and when you get to a menu that has a picture of Kevin Smith, be sure to click on this...he's always fun!...Laurie July 18, 2003

This is probably my favorite issue of this excellent DVD magazine series. Or maybe issue 3 is. I dunno. There is an outstanding short film on this disc called Protest that makes the whole disc. It's a must see if you are into computer generated animation - crank up the Aria, turn out the lights and stare at your screen - and the director's commentary on the alternate audio track really added to my already considerable awe. As for the rest of the disc, articles are cool, interviews are interviews, Call Me Fishmael is hilarious, Enchanted is a really solid student film out of Germany and Jorge is a charming, Quirky half hour short. I bought this for the interview with the stars of Committed. I thought it would be longer, its under 5 minutes. The interviews with Johnny Rotten and Dave Foley are nice. But if you're one of the many probably buying this for Heather Graham (unlike me), you might be disappointed. But at under $13, who can go wrong? December 7, 2000

I enjoyed this collection very much. If you're interested in press conferences and short films, I think you'll find this is a good look at what film festivals are like. But there is very little of Heather Graham on this DVD -- so don't be fooled by the cover. October 14, 2000
