About Eagles: Hell Freezes Over

The long-defunct, Southern California band regrouped for an album, an expensive tour (expensive for ticket buyers, that is), and this televised special, which features the Eagles in performance. Laid-back but sharp and even stirring during a longish acoustic set, the guys quickly get past the nostalgia element and sound truly viable. They even make it look easy: the sight of Joe Walsh wearing glasses and sitting in almost perfect repose as he effortlessly colors old hits "Tequila Sunrise" and new material such as "Learn to Be Still" may make you wonder why you ever stashed that guitar in the attic. But the band eventually gets off their stools and rocks out on "Hotel California" and other Eagles standards. All in all, it's an enjoyable and mellowing show. --Tom Keogh Amazon.com essential video

I enjoyed reading Don Felder's book, Heaven and Hell. In this book he described some of the behind the scenes issues of this performance. When he was asked to be a part of this event and of re-joining the Eagles, he did it. When Glenn and Henley came back, there became this huge control thing happening. At once, the equal pay amounts were thrown out the Window. They were all told where exactly to stand. Felder was moved to the extreme right. If you watch this video, you seldom even see Felder. When he is seen, he is the one who is smiling and enjoying it the most as well as Joe Walsh. When Frey Sings he never sings to the audience but moves to the side which makes me gather that he is and was trully uncomfortable with this part of performing. Henley is way too monolithic. Just way to serious. The performances were ok but not relaxed enough. Also, the show starts way to slow.... July 8, 2008

The delivery time was fast. The book quality was excellent and the price for the quality of the book was even better. July 4, 2008

If you are an Eagles fan and you enjoy Acoustic guitar over blasting electric... then their come back album/video is right for you. I bought both CD and DVD for obvious reasons. June 12, 2008

I have loved the Eagles for years, and have several CDs of theirs. Last Christmas my wife and I splurged on a built-in 7.1 home theater system with high quality speakers and components. I have been accumulating music DVDs since then.

Other Amazon very positive reviews convinced me I should buy this DVD; I'm really glad I did. I can play audio in either Dolby or DTS. I've found music DVD's sound best when played with DTS, so I always buy videos with DTS audio tracks if they are available.

I watched "The Eagles -- Hell Freezes Over" with DTS selected, and all I can say is WOW!. The picture quality is great when upscaled, and the DTS is awesome. The DTS-only bonus track "The Seven Bridges Road" sounds so good that I plan to use it as demo for my audio components and speakers when I want to impress my friends; never mind that its one of my favorite Eagles cuts.

My only complaint about this album is that it does not include the Eagles classic "Lyin' Eyes"; otherwise, its perfect.

Don Henley, Glen Frey and the rest of the band have aged gracefully, but their musical and performing skills haven't diminished in any way. This is a DVD to sit down to, turn up your volume, kick back, and rock out.
