This is a an absolute feast of music and dance. I am not going to go on about the artistic side of the movie itself, cinematography and etc. as personal choices might differ there, but I will say that "if" you like Tango music and/or dance, DO NOT miss on this movie!! All dance scenes are absolutely beautiful.. And the music is very authentic and played by the masters (you will get to see them play), some live recorded during the movie, all just amazing! I had a rather elaborate review in mind before looking over those already filed. Obviously the only thing I can add to all of that is that I too received one of those DVDs with the Director's Commentary locked on, overriding the normal sound track. The special features menu provides buttons for turning commentaries on & off, but the links don't work on my copy. It would seem that when you order this DVD, you may or may not get one with commentaries locked on. Good luck. November 3, 2008

I've been dancing and performing Argentine Tango for 5 years now. This movie is inspirational and entertaining. I've met a few folks who have several parts in the film and the level of skill and passion they possess is true to the heart of Tango. I'm not sure why Sally Potter has not transferred her film "The Tango Lesson" to DVD, what's up with that? VHS only? This should be in everyone's library if your a beginner or advanced dancer a must see. LIBRA TANGO! August 8, 2008

Excellent, brilliant dancing and I love the fact they have explained the origin of tango, during the sequence of italian inmigrants arriving in Buenos Aires, with the music of "Va pensiero"from Nabucco as a background, so well suited. The plot is of no consequence, since Tango is the star of the show. A real pleasure to watch over and over. August 7, 2008

From beginning to end, the film Tango is infused with exquisite music and superb dancing. Although the story line is rather confusing and uninteresting, it works to glue all the dazzling tangos together and to offer some reason for the amazing variety of dances. With repeated watchings, you begin to notice the subtle themes in the music and choreography that repeat throughout, adding an invisible but powerful underlying rhythm to the production. For those dancing tango now, it's fun to see the differences between current styling techniques and those shown in this ten year-old film. Cecilia Narova's dancing is phenomenal; her only dance with Juan Carlos Copes (at the very end of the film) is a classic. March 3, 2008
