About Death Becomes Her

This 1992 black comedy by Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the Back to the Future trilogy) features some of the most eye-popping special effects of the '90s in its story of a narcissistic star (Meryl Streep) who steals the husband (Bruce Willis) of another woman (Goldie Hawn) and continues her rivalry with her even after death. A magic potion keeps both women going despite the punishment of murderous bullets and fatal plunges, and the joke is that even as they rot they remain vain about appearances. Though he's fashioned a one-note movie, Zemeckis gets a lot of mileage out of such impressive sights as Hawn walking around with a hole in her chest the size of a basketball, and Streep--her head and arms twisted 180 degrees--moving like a broken crab. It's weird, it's sick, it's hilarious, and the stars push the whole project to a classy entertainment. Isabella Rossellini is great as a scantily clad witch who sells the immortality brew. The DVD release has a full-screen presentation, optional French and Spanish soundtracks, optional Spanish subtitles, and Dolby sound. --Tom Keogh Amazon.com essential video

I know of many people who have watched this movie over and over...
It's one that you almost never get tired of.
Bruce Willis is so great as the "naive but brilliant guy" and this movie definitely shows how far Hollyweird women will go to "look young forever".
Highly recommended... Very funny, and almost believable as real life !!! January 8, 2009

One of the best 'big' special effects comedies of the 1990's...fantastic support from all the main stars make this a cult classic i feel, which didnt do as well as perhaps Zemeckis other work at the box office..still a great, deliciously dark and witty comedy.

Now for the minus star...why has this not been re-released on DVD with a widescreen, HD like transfer, full surround sound and extra features???? Very dissapointing Universal.... December 3, 2008

I remember seeing it when it first came out... I was 10. The movie scared the crap out of me! Now I see how funny it is and it sends a clear message about vanity. The actresses play their parts well and Bruce Willis' character is so annoyingly pathetic! I love this movie and I'm so glad I finally bought it. October 23, 2008

I always wanted to get this movie but never could find it in stores.
That's one of the many things I love about amazon, I usually can always find exactly what I'm looking for.
Anyways the movie of course. ^^
Its a great comedy, very dark, very elegant, and very disturbing at some points. If your similar to me a normal person and like to collect certain movies like edward scissor hands, beetlejuice, the goonies and such then this one is for your collection! I enjoyed it when I was a kid and enjoy just as much now! Its still got it. Goes to show you how vengefully crazy some people can get, and how very fragile we actually are. October 3, 2008

What a perdictable but funny movie in an age where women go to great lenghts for perfection. Enjoyed it with my sisters who are undergoing plastic surgery. June 27, 2008
