Average user review:| Kenneth Mars is hysterical! A very charming film. |
Donny and Marie Osmond are such wonderful musical talents, I only wish the film had incorporated more of them singing.
It's a lot like the old Elvis movies. It's just fun to watch!
I only wish this would be released on DVD...

My children and I loved this movie! A great whacky, adventure,
musical/comedy!
I can still remember the original, classic Donny & Marie show from the '70's. This movie is full of the same humor; so if you want a taste of nostalgia, and want a feel-good movie, with feel-good music, and whacky humor, I strongly recomend "Goin' Coconuts"! January 3, 2002

Both turn in good acting jobs. Donny is greatly loveable, just like always, and Marie is cute.
The story and dialog, etc, are good and enjoyable. Some of the supporting actors are well known and add to the show.
I wish the movie had more performance, and that's why I only give it 3 stars. You get only three almost full length performances. The movie opens with about a 2 minute song of typical Donny and Marie song and dance material. In the middle you get maybe a 2-3 minute solo performance by Donny on the piano, with cutsey mugging by Marie. At the end you get a great 5-10 minute production number of the Hawaiian war chant, featuring some vigorous, surprising, and very good Donny dancing, Marie doing a kind of juggling trick, Donny singing the lyric in Hawaiian, and Marie hula dancing, all great stuff. You have also heard this song in the "Enchanted Tiki Room" at Disneyland and you've seen Miss Piggy, Animal, Pigs and Penguins perform it on the Muppet Show.
It's worth it. September 8, 2001
