Kenny Rogers scored a hit with his single "Coward Of The County" and the song was such a big hit a spin-off movie was created. It is enteraining, just like his other movies. Rogers plays a preacher and his nephew's father died when he was ten years old and promised his father he wouldn't use fighting to prove he was a man. If you know the song then you know the rest. This is a really good production and most should find it enjoyable. November 23, 2005

While Mr. Rogers pleases the eye and sings so sweetly, I cannot say that I approve of this Coward of the County video.

My child, who is quite the bright lad could not stand this.
He is quick and nimble, but he does not approve.
I am.

So, with the profane, stop.

Propane.

Sometimes when you see that some people push you too far, being taught by the word of the Lord may not be enough. At least this is what the story tells us. Kenny Rogers stars as a preacher who works as a lumberman around the time of the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941 and understands that the young men working in the small town must go to war. He also witnesses his son who does not sign up and stays to work in his town, but gets picked on several times by three teens who go look for trouble anyway by seeing his son as his target. Mr. Rogers (!) works alright as the leader of a church and trying to give courage to his son in a neat TV film. It was shown in 1981 on CBS and it's been a long time since I've seen it until now when it appeared on PAX-TV. CBS Entertainment Productions, 1981, Not Rated, (A-OK for all family audiences.)
