The Monkees have been packaged and re-packaged so much that it is sometimes quite baffling to figure out where to start when trying to track down a good "greatest hits" package without taking a great hit in the bank account.

Well, the look is over.

This 20 song collection captures what made the group a hit machine, with some nice tidbits in the mix. Granted, the foursome was a corporate creation, but it cannot be denied the immense pop culture impact they had back in the day and continue to have in the entertainment industry. The one-disc collection at an affordable price gives the listener a good overview of a group that grew into the role of recording artists. November 22, 2008

nostalgia

I got this CD just for kicks. There is a remake of one of their songs on the radio and remembering how much I loved their tv show I bought the real thing. I love it. It will be fun to throw an occassional Monkeys song into the playlist. Will it comes up between nirvana, white stripes, sting, the doors, bob dylan, green day, bonnie rait? who knows, but it will make people smile-cuz everyone used to love the Monkeys.
