I had just turned 18 when this movie was released. I went to see it with pretty much no expectations (in fact, it was a girl who had dragged me to the theater). An hour in, I was surprised to find myself absolutely captivated by Gwyneth Paltrow, who played precisely the kind of girl I feared I would pursue but curse myself for pursuing. I was also taken in by the charm of the other characters, settings, and of course, the score, without which the movie would fall apart. Each scene is perfectly scored, the wonderful motif repeating throughout the film as often as the color green, which plays heavily in the visuals. The score is dense, rich, emotionally heavy but also uplifting. While the movie can be faulted for being at times heavy-handed, the score is never anything short of sophisticated, dreamy, and lush. While this is a must-have for fans of the movie, I have recommended it to *many* who have never seen the movie, all of whom have enjoyed it tremendously. For $9, it's an absolute steal. This great film has two C.D's one for soundtrack which is a mix of alternative artists and the The Score which is only the music compose for the film. March 29, 2008

I was not really sure at first if i should purchase the score as well as the soundtrack. But i can tell you it is well worth it. The scores music takes you into another element of the beauty and diversity of the great expectations tale. It's enchanting background music to play for a romantic dinner or play it loud for an intense journey. February 27, 2008

This is my favorite soundtrack. There are different styles, but they all blend together wonderfully. John Williams is masterful, as ever, on the guitar. August 4, 2005

Track #8, "Kissing in the Rain," is the sexiest track. It's the music played during my favorite scene when Estella runs after Pip. It is a powerful, emotional, heart rising piece. Play it over and over and dream of kissing Ethan Hawke. August 28, 2003
