My Sister Was Jumping for Joy!

I thought this would make a great Christmas surprise for my sister who loved, loved, loved Shaun Cassidy when we were growing up. I had to endure "DaDoRunRun" & "Hey Deanie" every single day! but, I must admit now...the music was really catchy!

She was thrilled when she got this CD; I just got an email from her and she says it's brought back some great memories of her school-girl crush on a teen idol.

A 'must have' compilation, but some song choices are questionable....

Of course, all his 'hits' are here, and that makes this a 'must have' CD for fans of Shaun Cassidy, since none of his albums are available on CD yet. However, where the lesser-known songs are concerned, I would have made different choices than Shaun did. "So Sad About Us" is OK, but not one of the better tracks from the Todd Rundgren-produced WASP album (which is BRILLIANT). I would have instead chosen the title track "WASP". It is simply fantastic- droll, ironic, and hysterically funny all at the same time & Shaun's totally UNHINGED performance is a revelation! I would also have preferred his cover of the David Bowie classic "Rebel, Rebel", another great off-the-rails performance and different enough from the Bowie version to make it his own.

"Do You Believe In Magic" is also not a song I would have chosen for this collection. I think that his cover of "Be My Baby" or even "Morning Girl" would have been stronger choices from his debut album.

I don't disagree with all of his choices, however. Shaun's version of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" is officially my favorite version of this song now. It simply blows Great White's version out of the water (makes it sound like a piece of overproduced junk, quite frankly), and I prefer it over Ian Hunter's original recording as well. "Cool Fire" is also a great selection- one of the best songs from the WASP album.

All in all, it's a great CD, but you'll want to seek out the vinyl versions of his full albums as well if you don't already have them. There just simply isn't enough on this CD to properly represent all of the great material on Shaun's LPs. Hopefully, all 5 of his studio albums will be released on CD some day- Shaun and his fans deserve nothing less! :-) November 20, 2008

SHAUN!!

Loved Shaun Cassidy when I was in 2nd & 3rd grade. I've been looking all over for his songs. Couldn't get it on iTunes but Amazon had it. Now I can listen to Da Doo Ron Ron, Do You Believe In Magic & That's Rock 'n' Roll whenever I want to my kids disbelief. He's my Hanna Montana! April 15, 2008

10 year old fan

My 10 year old daughter discovered Shaun Cassidy by watching the old Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV shows on DVD. She loved the songs Shaun sang and the character of Joe Hardy. When she began asking for a CD of his music I wasn't very hopeful but I figured why not look on Amazon. When I told her it was available she was thrilled and more than willing to spend her own money to get the CD. It has all the songs from the DVDs plus some others. She is very impressed and listens the CD quite often and has asked that her Dad put it on her ipod.

The quality is quite good and it more than met her needs. March 23, 2008
