I watched the Lawrence Welk Show for years and always waited to hear the big band pieces. The musicians were always superb. A lot of corny comments have come out of this show, but how can you argue with 29 consecutive years on TV!! All studio cats, these guys played together for years which produced a cohesive, clean sound. Their phrasing, intonation, and time is magnificent. This is a great CD for anyone who wants to be introduced to classic, big band music. Even the vocals are wonderful and crystal clear. The singer's intonation also is fantastic.

The Big Band sound is hitting hard like rock; it jumps at you. The Brass Section is breathtakingly awesome. A very refreshing sound and good brass blends. The solo pieces are superb. This music is very enjoyable to listen to especially when relaxing late at night or very early in the morning. I also find that it contains some good dance swings. December 22, 2000
