I liked N2 and N3 better than this one. The first two were normal filmaking and storytelling. This was a little weird and artsy. I think director Albert Pyun shows very good vision in his work, but this just felt a little awkward like an art film that just doesn't make it. Maybe it's only me. If you like Sue Price, buy this DVD. She looks great and is worth the viewing.
August 1, 2003A strange film which probably will appeal to fans of female bodyuilding more than to Sci Fi fans, as the star Sue Price is frequently nude. The film contains far too much talking and not enough action, but despite it's obviously tiny budget, it is visually very impressive with some stylish camerawork, brutal violence and very odd Cronenberg like special effects. A film which will enhance Albert Pyun's reputation as the 'auteur' of the 'B' movie genre & though it's not entirely successful, it is a brave attempt at reworking the well worn 'android assassin' theme.

Nemesis 4 is the best in the series. At last we get Sue Price in near contest condition. In the previous installments she was soft and had a terrible cornrow hairstyle. In nemesis 4 she displays the physique, and hairstyle bodybuilding fans are accustomed to.This film also features faceless cameos by Sharon Bruneau & Debbie Muggli.Female muscle fans won't be disappointed.
July 11, 2001I have professionally worked as a film critic, so I know film, and let me tell you freinds: NEMESIS 4: CRY OF ANGELS is no film. Easily the worst entry in the series (which says a lot if you have seen the previous three)this movie manages to both confuse and sedate the viewer. People have fallen into comas over less than the effect of watching this wretched display of total incompetence. I would provide an overview of the plot and characters, but for the mental health and well-being of the reader I will refrain. Besides, exposure to such poison could cause more heads to explode than all of the SCANNERS films combined. Coincidentally, SCANNERS comes across as 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY when compared to this movie. Angels do indeed cry- every time a copy of NEMISIS 4 is put into a vcr.
July 9, 2001 | | "Your Getting Sloppy Alex" | |
Albert Pyun has done it again, and by "again" I mean crafted an almost unwatchable piece of celluloid birdcage lining. "Nemesis 4:Cry of Angels" is aptly titled in that it is very likely the angels of heaven actually wept upon it's direct-to-video release.
The film features a paucity of sets that provide very little enhancement or distraction to the pained acting and shockingly cheap special effects. Pyun delivers a storyline that may have been conceived by a small child and continually introduces new characters with such laughable names as "Earl Typhoon, "Tokudo the Oscillator", and "Johnny Impact".
For all of it's shortcomings Nemesis 4 does provide some positives worth mentioning. The amazing physique of lead character Alex (Sue Price) is truly something to behold. Apparently Pyun felt this way also as he manages to have Alex appear pointlessley naked in 80% of her scenes. Also notable is the incredibly realistic portrayal provided by the helicopter pilot. Although not given credit mention, this young actor is a rising star.
Pyun does introduce some interesting cinematic techniques such as providing several minutes of Nemesis 2 and Nemesis 3 as bookends to the Cry of Angels offering. If you have viewed the prior films in the series, these flashback scenes force an unwanted return to the memories your mind may have tried to bury in it's subconcious. If you have not viewed the previous installments, these scenes will serve as a confusing and disjointed walk through the Nemesis franchise.
Nemesis 4:Cry of Angels is not for the faint of heart as it is a film that is not so much watched, as it is endured. June 8, 2001
