Doe you enjoy those campy, over-the-top "Stepfather" movies? If so then "The Dentist" should fill your sweet tooth for them just fine. Enjoy seeing cheating wives, gold digging divorcees, crooked Internal Revenue Service agents, over-sexed repairmen, and bleach blond floozies get their comeuppance? If so then "The Dentist" fills the drill. A thoroughly enjoyable hour and one half dental appointment. I am certain that I will purchase the follow-up sequel in the near future. September 30, 2008

I remember by dad rented this movie when I was younger. I loved the movie and he squirmed thru out the whole movie. Yes, the movie is sick and twisted. I hate dentist to begin with. Bersen delivers an amazing performance as he slowly goes over the edge. Its probably one of most underrated performances in movie history besides Christian Bale in American Psycho. Yes, I really just said that. Bersen does an amazing job as someone you'd trust but see's his wife cheating and he slowly goes crazy. A brilliant effort by Bersen and im alot shocked that this film hasnt got more fans. Of course some of the scenes are not for alot of people. September 8, 2007

This is a film for really sick puppies. If you showed this movie to 100 random people in a theater, 99 would walk out within the first half hour. I'd probably stay.
It's not surprising that this was directed by the same guy that did "From Beyond" and the "Re-Animator" trilogy.
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl.
All that being said, I didn't shut this hideous monstrosity off.
Warped beyond belief. March 17, 2007

Dr. Feinstone (Corbin Bernsen), seemingly successful, mild-mannered dentist, comes completely unglued after witnessing his beautiful wife (Linda Hoffman) playing around w/ the new pool guy. This sends the good doctor into freefall, causing him to seek bloody vengeance, not only against wifey and poolman, but against anyone who is unlucky enough to think he's still sane! Dr. Feinstone uses nitrous oxide (the old laughing gas) to subdue his patients / victims, in order to give them an extremely thorough cleaning! His dental assistants suspect something's wrong, but try to get through the day anyway. Bad mistake! An IRS agent (Earl Boen, the police psychologist from Terminator 1 and 2) pays a visit to Finestone's office in order to blackmail him into free dental work. Feinstone fixes his mouth right up for him! Ouch! THE DENTIST also has Ken Foree (from the original Dawn Of The Dead) as the cop on the case, and cutey-pie Virginya Keehne as the young gal who just can't get in to see the doc. She does a very good Jamie Lee Curtis turn during the climax, and has one of the best lines of the movie! Highly recommended... March 9, 2007

The Dentist has that trademark Brian Yuzna bizarreness/dark comic feel to it. Personally, I've enjoyed every film of his (Return of the Living Dead 3, Bride of Re-Animator, Beyond Re-Animator...).

The dentist's chair was a great choice of scenery for a horror film as that is a place where humans are most susceptible to the advances of a deranged psychopath. The dark humor is found throughout along with a decent storyline which should keep you glued to the tube. The gore scenes are okay, and Yuzna's managed to make some pretty nasty "dentist-ized" human atrocities towards the end.

If you dig Bride of Reanimator and ROTLD 3, then you should enjoy this fun flick. November 27, 2006
