About Once Bitten

This is the movie that was supposed to make Jim Carrey a star--in 1985, no less. Perhaps it's no wonder that it took him until the 1990s (and In Living Color): this bloodless vampire comedy almost sank his movie career before it began. Carrey plays an innocent L.A. teen, the unlikely object of the affections of slinky Lauren Hutton, a long-lived vampire who needs the blood of a virgin to stay young. So, she woos the unsuspecting, naive young Valley guy. But most of the jokes fall flat, and only when Carrey cuts loose briefly and lets his wild side show do we get a glimpse of the future Ace Ventura. --Marshall Fine Amazon.com

He belongs to me! This film is all that! I love the hook-up diner with the giant Red finger @#$%ing HAND, as well as the Russ porno charade! BLAFF! Countess is The Gorgeous Vampress of this video! The disco scene is hot! Robin is real pretty with that red lisptick and corset- played by "Veronica Lodge"! "It's sooo...black!", I love that!!!!! Lovely film. August 1, 2008

I saw this movie years ago and it has always stuck with me. Not sure if it was because of the fun 80's soundtrack or the acting, but I had to buy it just trip down memeory lane once again. Jim Carrey plays a high schooler in love with his girlfriend....but they've never done, "The Deed". He's getting all frustraited, and his 2 best buds suggest that they try some down town clubs ( mind you, they are driving in an ice cream truck which does not scream, "Hot guys for the taking" ) for a little action. While at one particular club, Jim's character spots a hot older woman and talks with her. She convinces him to go along with her to her place for a fun time. So, having been denied by his girlfriend ( who really wants to make it with him, but just at the right time/circumstances ) he goes along in the limo with the sexy older woman. Little does he know that the hot female he is with is in dire need of virgin blood ( Jim Carrey fits the bill ) she has to drink from him 3 times before the transformation can be complete--otherwise she gets all old and cryptkeeper on him. Clevon Little is her butler/chauffer/aid and does a great job of calming down Lauren Hutton ( the hot Vamp woman after Jim Carrey ). There's a final scene at the high school Halloween face-off dance contest, with some great 80's dancing and music, between Jim's actual girlfriend and the hot vamp chick. It's a silly, fun, humerous tale that will make you nostalgic for the simpler 80's sound and movies. June 9, 2008

I really enjoy this movie - it's funny (both in a comedy way and a bad-movie way), and is the ultimate height of awesome 80's cheesiness. Great only-in-the-80's music (the title track is a high-rated favorite on my iPod), a full-out choreographed dance number in the middle of the high school halloween party, and some great fashion disasters. Campy, cheesy, B (or maybe C)-movie fun.

This also happens to be the only Jim Carrey movie I can actually stand to watch all the way through, so for those of you who find him horrifically irritating like I do, you might want to give this one a try anyway. March 29, 2008

So this movie will bring you back to why you like Vampires in the 80's in the first place, plus its a great character study of the ever evolving Jim Carrey. The movie is fun, the music is all out 80's cheese, but hey, that's what makes it so enjoyable. Buy it, Enjoy it, Sink your Teeth into it. January 20, 2008
