I LOVED this movie as a child and have been looking for it since the birth of my son in January. I didn't know the title of the movie, so I emailed Hasbro and got some help from them even though they really had nothing to do with the movie! Rumor has it, it will be available on DVD November 8th, so I will wait and see if that happens before I buy the VHS version, but one way or another, I will definitely be purchasing it! As guilty as I feel for saying this I actually remember enjoying this cartoon.Just remember it came a long time before cartoons such as 'South Park' and 'Adult Swim' that have much edgier humor. It was 1984 and different times when a kid could be a kid.The story basically revolves around a community of loving glowworms trying to have a happy holidays until the wicked witch of the North Pole, name of Blanche captures Santa so she can have the holiday all for herself. Thanks to a clumsy but wiley moose the glow friends rescue Santa and have christmas.
Alot of people of my generation complain about shows like these being essencialy commercials for a toy companies product and being the very embodiement of the 'flavor of the month' childrens ethic, but this actually was a Saturday morning cartoon series in the mid 80's.But I really do feel this will be alot of fun for younger kds, much as the Carebears are.Plus having Carroll O' Connor and Sally Struthers doing voice overs doesn't hurt either.
