About Bride of Chucky

Brace yourself: this is a clever, consistently entertaining, and even inspired continuation of the mean-spirited slasher series. For those not in the know, Chucky is a mop-top kid's doll come to life with the soul of a serial killer and the voice of Brad Dourif (doing his best Jack Nicholson). Revived by his former paramour Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly, looking every inch a life-size Barbie in stiletto heels and skintight black leather), Chucky proceeds to turn his human sweetie into a pint-sized Talking Tina doll with attitude, and together they hit the road for a magic amulet and young new bodies to inhabit. They hitch a ride with sweet young runaways Katherine Heigl and Nick Stabile and leave a trail of corpses bloodied, burned, and cut to ribbons. The kids are cute, but the real heat is generated by the latex lovers who use murder as foreplay and consummate their renewed romance in a night of passionate sex ("Shouldn't you wear a rubber?" "I'm all rubber!"). Hong Kong director Ronny Yu (The Bride with White Hair) directs with a light touch and against all odds transforms walking dolls Chucky and Tiffany into funny, energetic, full-blooded characters: l'amour fou has never been more crazy. John Ritter costars as Heigl's overprotective uncle (another obstacle on the road to dolly freedom) and Alexis Arquette is hilarious as a lanky goth nerd. The wild conclusion leaves room for another high-concept sequel. The DVD features two commentary tracks, a behind-the-scenes documentary, and "Jennifer Tilly's Diary." --Sean Axmaker Amazon.com

A word of advice, if you're looking for special features, this DVD doesn't have much...but the film itself is RAD! Bride of Chucky is the return of the killer doll, and this film throws a lot of twists at the audience. It incorporates a lot of different genres in one, including: thriller, horror, and romantic comedy aspects.

Directed by Ronny Yu (Who also did Freddy Vs. Jason), BOC has a very graphic novel feel to it, and maintains a creepy atmosphere throughout the film. While the acting could use some help, the characters somehow hold up (the whole "I'm gonna vaporize you" scene is hilariously bad though).

Overall, watch this DVD for the film and not the extras. There is a behind the scenes part, but it's not all that great. If you're a Chucky fan, this is definitely for you! May 26, 2008

Bride of Chucky is a proper return to the oringial Chucky we all know and love. Don Mancini script is sharp and funny and the direction by Ronny Yu is equal to his Jap films. The film is a vast imporvement of Childs Play 3, however I wish Chucky would have finally gotten to kill Andy. March 26, 2008

Let's all thank Don Mancini. Seven years after the near bore and near death of the Child's Play franchise, Mancini breathed new life into his child. Taken in a completely different way than the previous sequels, Bride of Chucky finally makes Chucky the star. The storyline is now all his, but not just him. Jennifer Tilly gives the series an extra boost as Chucky's ex-lover who revives him in doll-form only to have Chucky put her in her own doll body.

What ensues is spousal hilarity, and a lot more blood than the series has seen. There's also Katherine Heigl and Nick Stabile as our main protaginists, but do we really care about them? Actually, I never did. Like I said, this is all Chucky's movie. John Ritter's cameo was actually the next best thing to the villians in the film.

Chucky is once again ressurrected, But only this time, His long-lost girlfriend [Jennifer Tilly] gets a hold of him, But Chucky later kills her and he places her soul into a female doll and together, They cause brutal mayhem. Following the tedious Child's Play 3 [Which explains why Chucky's all sowned together in this film, Being he was thrown into a fan at the end of part 3], This is a welcome breath of fresh air. This film has some wonderful doses of dark comedy as well as some interesting murder scenes and some cool new characters. This is another great sequel in the ongoing saga of Chucky. Followed by Seed Of Chucky. October 25, 2007

That line took the words right out of my mouth. The 4th installment to the killer good guy doll series. Its better than the previous one and the very last one. But thats not really saying anything at all. There was some holes in the movie. But to point them all out would be taking up even more time for a movie that really doesn't deserve it.

I give this credit for the simple fact Chucky isn't chasing around another horrible acting child character and the story of finding a new body gets a makeover. That was a good change of pace. He finds a bride in Tilly and they continue on a trail of mayhem. The death scenes and gore in this one are a step up from the last one. Too bad they turned this into more of a cheesy comedy. The ending was by far the worst of all the Chucky movies up to this point. Still its recommended if your a Chucky fan. September 27, 2007
