Average user review:This movie was created well before my time, but still held up when I was in my last semester of high school. The whole film helped me to decide whether or not I should stay home for college. I chose in the vain of Richard Dreyfus, and have never looked back. High school is great then, but after it's over, how long can it last? The answer is: only the summer after graduation. People have to grow and move on. That's what this film has taught me about my life and hopefully someone else's, too. March 29, 2008

Love the movie every time I see it.
This was the time when I was growing up,
high school, getting ready for college.
The music, the styles, the values.
I love it. March 26, 2008
Audio Could Be Better!
I was looking foward to seeing this in widescreen and it was great, the picture so clear. The music was great too but the actors voices was very low volume. By time you turned up the volume to hear that actors, the music was way too loud. THAT could have been done better. March 21, 2008
Lucas's ode to a simpler time
George Lucas gets unharsly criticized for the Star Wars prequels. Anytime someone argues Lucas's talent, I can show them this. It is quite a wonderful piece of work. Lucas is able to incredibly recreate the feeling of being a 1950's kid with American Graffiti. A wonderful peice reminiscent of another critical film that receives entirely too much backlash, Forrest Gump (Two-Disc Special Collector's Edition), both of which recreate the sense of time's past by taking a lighthearted approach to the subject.
Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams, and Suzanne Somers star in Lucas's ode to the 50's. Just as in Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition with Bonus Disc), Lucas transports us to a time and place entirely different but all too familiar. This is about coming of age in that time but could be attached to any time. It is quite wonderful.
It's also one of the first stories to use, what is now being called hyperlink-cinema, following many main characters throughout one last day of high school.
The DVD really only features a Making Of featurette, but the movie is definitely one to see. It's great.
Highly recommended. March 17, 2008
American Graffiti
A phenomenal movie with spin-offs. California teenagers cruise in a night of self-discovery. Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss and Suzanne Somers rose from this movie. Suzanne is the blonde in the white Thunderbird whom Dreyfuss pursues. He is chasing a dream. He finally flies off to college. In Close Encounters, he flies off with aliens. I wish the soundtrack had more rock 'n' roll and less doo-wop.
