About Don Juan DeMarco

You might not get a thrill from the sight of Faye Dunaway and Marlon Brando throwing popcorn into each other's mouths, but that didn't stop this movie from gaining a new lease on life thanks to cable television and home video. It's a quirky romantic comedy about a mental patient (Johnny Depp) who claims to be Don Juan, the world's greatest lover, and he gets quite a few women to believe it's true. Brando plays the psychiatrist who tries to analyze his patient's apparent delusion, and Dunaway plays Brando's wife, who wants to inject some Don Juan-ish romance into their marital routine. Walking a fine line between precious comedy, wistful drama, and delicate fantasy, the movie gets a big dose of charm from its esteemed cast, with Depp delivering dialogue that would have sounded ludicrous from a lesser actor. This may not be a great movie, but it is guaranteed to put you in an amorous mood. --Jeff Shannon Amazon.com

Great movie for those of us who have reached an age where we may have forgotten how rich love can be with the person you have loved for years. I think we can all learn through the eyes of younger people. April 27, 2008

rating: 4 Depp had me sold that he was Don Juan
After a few weeks since I first (finally!) watched this film, I still would want to watch it again in the near future. It's a good "date" film, especially for the romantic at heart. Not exclusively, though. I know it's Johnny Depp, but all that sex symbol stuff aside, he was convincing and believable as Don Juan. He gets checked into a mental health facility and has all the ladies following him around. Not that I can hardly blame them, but he also managed to charm the big tall (and black) male orderly. Brando is fun to watch, too. These two actors bonded over this experience, which I read somewhere. Brando isn't one to be easily impressed. The story could have been fleshed out a bit more, but it was still a good one and though the ending is a happy one, it wasn't what I expected it to be, either. A worthy addition to anyone's DVD library. April 27, 2008

This is a very touching, funny, and at times sexy film.
Depp is superb and Brando is too.

Awesome DATE MOVIE.

rating: 5 ONE OF MY FAVS
I'm a big fan of Johnny Depp and I just loved this movie. I could watch it over and over. It's a good date movie. Marlon Brando and Faye Dunaway are great as an older couple in this movie. The song that accompanies the film keeps playing over and over in your mind long after viewing. It's a "feel good" movie with a beautiful ending. There are no cuss words or violence, but there is humor, sensuality, and it's thought provoking. February 15, 2008
