For years since a child, I have been searching for that movie that I once watched in a dark movie theater that terrified/entranced me with its music and "special effects" (which most kids nowadays scoff at, including my own) This movie, and its "cousins" the Sinbad movies, were the stuff of adventure/fantasy thrills of the youths from the 50's and 60's.I'll never forget my gasping at the giant iron soldier strolling upon the rocky beach to destroy the sailship trying desperately to escape its path.
Or the ships figurehead opening its eyes when talking to Jason. And now, I finally have this movie for my very own childhood memories! June 21, 2008

I have loved the movie Jason and the Argonauts since I was a kid. The part where Talos (the bronze statue) comes to life was such an awesome special effect "back in the day." But, my all time favorite part of the movie is when the "skeleton army" comes out of the ground to fight Jason and his crew. That is still a totally cool special effect for me!!! I am really glad that Amazon carries this DVD. Thanks! May 15, 2008

If you love Clash of the Titans then you will want to see Jason and the Argonauts to witness how stop motion animation would shape Hollywood special effects for decades to come. Not only that, but the Golden Fleece story is a pretty decent mythological narrative to bring to the silver screen and this is a full on Hollywood blockbuster production.

Jason and the Argonauts is great screenwriting along with a character driven story, many of whom are the Gods of Olympus, presiding over Jason who goes on a journey to recover the Golden Fleece to restore his nation's confidence. There are lots of goodies here, from moving metal statues, giant lizards and hydras to the superb skeleton warrior finale that blew everybody away when it was first shown. There are some nice surprise twists and turns in store. You will watch this time and time again. Great entertainment through and through and a triumph for special effects. May 10, 2008
